Entry fees: £12 in all sections (for non ECF members £14.50). Late entry fee if received after Monday 6th February is £15 (£17.50 for non ECF members).

Major Section
Open to any player.
Prizes: 1st £60, 2nd £30, 3rd £15. Trophy for top 3.
Additional Grading Prizes may be awarded.
Intermediate Section
Open to players with an ECF rapidplay grade below 1450
Trophies for the top 3 and best girl. Age group medals.
Minor Section
Open to any player with no grade or below 1000 (some tournament experience would be required and players with a grade over 1000 may be eligible if the grade is based on a small number of games).
Trophies for the top 3. Best girl medal. Medals in each age group.
Novice Section
Open to any player with limited experience (eg first or second year of chess).
Trophy for the top three and then medals in each age group. Medal for the best girl.
Grades: ECF over the board rapidplay grade takes precedent, followed by ECF standard grade OTB. If no grades then a reasonable estimate should be made to place in the right section. If not sure – e-mail and ask.
Please note: Where there is a small entry in a section it may be merged with another section, although prizes will be applicable for the section you entered (in the event of a small Major entry cash prizes will be available to Intermediate players in a merged section). There must be at least 3 players in a category for a prize to be awarded.
Tie- break system (for trophies only) is games played between players tied, then sum of opponents scores, median sum od opponents scores, then sum of progressive scores. (If needed further tie breaks can be applied.)
Extra prizes may be awarded depending on size of entry on all sections. The organisers reserve the right to change the prize structure to suit the entries received. Grades used for ranking will be those published by the ECF in February 2023.

(You do not have to enter other events to be part of Event 3).
(Refreshments may be on sale, but you should bring a packed lunch). We no longer accept cheques. Payment is by bank transfer but if you send a postal entry you can pay on the day, but at late entry rates. Refunds given for withdrawal before Monday 6th March) We recommend you do not enter through a third party as this can lead to confusion. Send your entry directly to the organisers.
The organisers are only responsible for juniors in the playing hall. We strongly recommend juniors are supervised when they are not playing. It is a condition of entry that photographs may be taken and used for publicity. If you do not wish photographs of your child to be used you must tell us on the day. Photos may appear on the YJCA website, facebook and twitter pages.
Programme for all events: Arrive 9.45am. Round 1 10am, Round 2 11.00am, Round 3 12.00pm Round 4 1.00pm, Round 5 2.00pm, Round 6 3.00pm, Prize giving 4.15pm.
Times will be brought forward if rounds finish early. You will play all 6 rounds. Rate of play is 15 mins +10s increments per player.

The organisers reserve the right to move players into appropriate sections.
A copy of the grand prix scoring system will be made available and displayed at each tournament.
Entries must be received by 9pm on Thursday 9th march. Entries will close if 80 entries are received
